Testimonial
After 20 years of playing my vintage
Tubaphone I started casually looking for a second banjo; I've picked up
plenty of banjos over the past few years, old and new, all of which
reinforced the notion that I was on a futile quest to find an instrument
that would complement my playing as much as that old Vega. I had a change
of heart when I heard the custom Ovilla #007 on Zepp's audio clip - I was
attracted by its balanced, solid sound and its simple looks. Playing it at
the store was the clincher. It's been 6 months since I bought 007 and I
still pick it up first, over the Tubaphone. In addition to its good sound,
it is easy to play; I like the width and shape of the fingerboard/neck,
which make more comfortable for fretting than most banjos I've played. I've
modified it a little, adding a Moon bridge, which enhances its clarity and
brightness and we also raised the action slightly (personal preference).
Thanks for a quality instrument and all the best for the New Year.
