"I've really enjoyed playing the new Chuck Lee 'turkey' banjo this summer. I haven't used another banjo on stage, since I received my Custom Lee this past May. Chuck was great to work with in designing a non-traditional banjo. I asked for a 3 1/2 inch deep pot, 12 inches in diameter with a wooden tone ring, just to bring out the deep deep tones. The artistic quality of my banjo and the craftsmanship are superb. Being a Turkey Biologist and hunter, having the turkey feathers on the peghead was a wonderful Chuck Lee touch. A superb banjo!

This custom project was designed for Dick Kimmel and was to have a Turkey Theme. Dick is a Turkey Biologist by day. We worked through many different ideas. Dick likes the more traditional look with a minimal fingerboard inlay. Thinking traditional we finally ended up with a Jeweled Vase full of Turkey Feathers. Small Abalone Dots grace the fingerboard. It has a Prairieville Peghead, figured Birch laminated neck with Purpleheart/Maple/Blue veneers running up each side of the center strip, under the peghead and fingerboard. It has my standard style heel, a 25.5” scale, a double action truss-rod and a Scalloped bone nut. Ebony fingerboard and peghead overlay. This custom model comes with a 12” 2-ply maple rim blackened with Purple highlights in the figured Maple rim cap, 1/2" thick, 3 1/2" overall height, with nickel shoes & hooks, closed ball end nuts and custom shoe screws. 5-star tuning pegs, Abalone side dots, no-knot tailpiece and a Fiberskin Head finish off the details. A TKL Professional Archtop case protect is all.
